The FBI's Involvement

Shortly before the watch was set to be auctioned, Federal Bureau of Investigation agents visited Bailey, revealing that the National Park Service and the FBI had been searching for the watch since its theft. The watch was recovered and returned to Sagamore Hill National Historic Site, where it would once again be on public display.
