Pop-Tarts® Has Their Eye on Taylor Swift
Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid said that Taylor Swift brought homemade pastries to her boyfriend, Tight End Travis Kelce, and the rest of the football team. Now, the Pop-Tarts® brand has run an ad offering a donation and soliciting the popstar for the recipe.
The Way to Their Hearts
Taylor loves to cook, and she understands that a great way into the hearts of people is through their stomachs. In an interview, Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid shared that Travis' girlfriend brought by some "homemade Pop-Tarts" for the offensive linemen, who weren't willing to share the treats.
Interestingly, this isn't the first time that Taylor's baking has gotten a shout-out from the NFL®. In a radio interview from 2023, former NFL star Bernie Kosar shared that Taylor brought cinnamon rolls for Travis to enjoy during a pre-game meal, as reported by Today. While Kosar was attempting to stick to a vegan, gluten-free diet, he said he could not turn down trying out one of the cinnamon rolls. "You can't turn Taylor Swift's desserts down," the radio show hosts agreed.
Taking a look at this Instagram post from Taylor, we would have to agree.
Pop-Tarts Jump on the Bandwagon
In an interesting turn, Kelloggs'® Pop-Tarts took to their official Instagram and asked Travis to try to get Taylor's attention (and her recipe). The brand's Instagram posted, "To KC's most famous fan, we heard there's a Pop-Tarts pastry (Your Version) and in its honor, we're donating to @harvesters, a local Feeding America partner food bank. But if you #releasetherecipe, we'll double our donation."
"We're tortured not knowing more about this DIY delight," read an ad, taken out by Pop-Tarts parent company, Kelloggs, in The Kansas City Star. "What's the filling? Does it have frosting? Do they have little holes?"
While it's not clear if Taylor will release the recipe, if she does, that donation would be a huge help for the mission of Harvesters and the community it serves.
Economic Powerhouse
Taylor, who is a self-made billionaire, has had a significant impact on the economy. Her "Eras Tour" is estimated to have generated $5 billion for local economies where she had tour stops in the U.S. alone, which includes Kansas City. This, along with her philanthropic efforts throughout her nearly 20-year career, make it unsurprising that such a huge brand like Pop-Tarts would want to collaborate with her. So, will Taylor release her secret pastry recipe? Only time will tell!
