Kim Kardashian's $15K Bible Bid Rejected

Kim Kardashian recently tried to buy back a Bible once owned by her late father, Robert Kardashian Sr., but her $15,000 offer was rejected by the executor of O.J. Simpson's estate.
An Heirloom With a Complicated History
Robert Kardashian Sr., a longtime friend and defense attorney for O.J. Simpson, gave it to Simpson the day after he was arrested for the 1994 murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. The book includes a handwritten note dated June 18, 1994.
"O.J., this book will help," Robert Sr. wrote, as quoted by PEOPLE. "God loves and he will speak to you with his words. Read this book everyday. God has a definite plan for your life. You are his child and he will use you again. I love you and God loves you."
Robert Kardashian Sr. died in 2003 after battling esophageal cancer, and the Bible holds sentimental value for Kim. In a 2023 GQ interview, she recalled her father reading the Bible to her and her siblings. "I'm probably more religious than most people guess," she said, according to InStyle.
Why Kim's Offer Was Denied
Kim tried to buy the Bible directly from O.J. Simpson's estate for $15,000, hoping to avoid an auction. But Malcolm LaVergne, executor of Simpson's estate, turned her down because the item was already legally set to be auctioned.
"The amount is why I had no choice, because why would I spend $15,000 of estate money — why would I spend $15,000 in attorney's fees — to sell it to Kim for $15,000?" LaVergne told InStyle. "That's a zero-sum game. That's a bad business model. If Kim had offered $150,000 for it, we would've been in court getting this approved outside of the auction."
He added, "Kim can bid on it online. She may even get it cheaper than the 15 grand, so who knows," according to InStyle.
The Auction Continues
As of March 26, the highest bid for the Bible sits at $9,800, less than Kim's original offer. Whether she chooses to place a bid remains to be seen. Even if she doesn't win the auction, Kim's effort shows just how much her father's memory, and his faith, still means to her.
